St Padarn’s Institute is at the heart of all formation and training for the Church in Wales – for congregation members growing in their discipleship, for those being locally commissioned for service, for those preparing for new licensed ministries such as pioneers, pastors and youth and children’s workers, for those preparing for ordination, and for the continuing development of all its ministers. It is also gives new impetus to research and reflection on Welsh theology and mission, as well as being part of the wider theological thinking and learning of the church across denominational and national boundaries.
Staff are based across Wales, and learning groups and events take place almost daily using a host of different venues the length and breadth of the nation. St Padarn’s is not a place or a college in the traditional sense, but a community of formation for mission, working in partnership with bishops, dioceses and local church communities. All that it does is rooted in deepening spirituality as we allow God to form us into people of faith, hope and courage, sustained and inspired in prayer.
St Padarn’s also includes the Centre for Chaplaincy Studies which is co-sponsored by Cardiff University. It is the only UK centre offering induction, masters and doctoral studies in chaplaincy. St. Padarn’s also has contracts with the Ministry of Defence and HM Prison Service for training and research.
