Brief history of Diocese:
Ukwa Diocese is ten years old, having been carved out of Aba Diocese
in 1994. It is a completely rural diocese with very serious missionary
and evangelical challenges.
It has 58 functional churches and 45 clergy at the moment. The seat of
the Cathedral is Akwete between the cities of Aba and Port-Harcourt.

Reason for wanting a Link:
There is strength, blessings, joy and other spiritual nourishment in fellowship. We want to have a link in another part of the Anglican Communion so that we can be part of this fellowship of the body of Christ. Each of us has areas of strength and weakness and sharing this with others brings enrichment.
What expectations you have of the Link?
- Parish to parish links,
- Three way diocesan links,
- Training in ministry,
- Mission team exchange,
- Evangelism programmes,
- A common prayer or intercessory calendar,
- Renewal programmes,
- Exchange of personnel, etc.
What part of the world you would like your Link to be?
United States of America, Britain, Australia.
Describe the style and patterns of church life and ministry in your diocese.
- Low Church, Evangelically minded,
- We lay emphasis on the word of Lord.
- A lot of traditional elements in worship.
- Trying to focus a lot on the youth and children, beginning to be project-minded: realising the need for clergy development Mothers Union and Women’s child are very active.
